Villa Avantgarde is located in Mlini, a Dubrovnik riviera summer resort only 7 miles from Dubrovnik Old City and only 6 miles to the Dubrovnik Airport, located in the area rich in Mediterranean vegetation, beautiful sandy beaches and picturesque surroundings. If you are up for a quiet vacation, with a possibility to enjoy all Dubrovnik events, Mlini is the perfect place for you. The location of Villa Avantgarde is ideal, the bus stop is 100 metres walk from our rooms and apartments with buses going to Dubrovnik every half an hour, the journey takes about 15 minutes (Bus number 10) – the number 10 bus also goes the other way to Cavat and that takes about 15 minutes too. Inside the villa you have 6 apartments and 6 rooms, designed in unique and colorful styles having all amenities you would usually find in an upscale 4 star hotel.

Mlini has a sweet little harbor, fish restaurants and cocktail bars, ideal if you want a nice meal and a couple of drinks overlooking the sea without the hustle and bustle of the bigger resorts. It’s about a 5 minute walk downhill from the villa and uphill coming back but well worth it.

Mlini is a great base for buses or water taxis going to Dubrovnik one way and Cavtat the other. It’s the best way to come into Dubrovnik Old City and if you get the direct boat it takes about 20 minutes along the coast. There are various boat excursions you can go on and all of these can be booked from Mlini, Cavtat or Dubrovnik. Sit and have a coffee or a drink in the little bar there while you wait for your boat to Dubrovnik Old City, compared by many people to Venice without canals.

There are a couple of small supermarkets about 200 meters from the villa which is very handy for quick shopping while the big supermarket is about a 10 min walk away. In the nearby of Villa Avantgarde there are a large mall, supermarket, green market, bakery, restaurants, bar, bank, post office, a pharmacy, seaside lungomare, children's playgrounds and parks.

The beautiful beaches are mostly made of pebbles, but if you walk along the coast there are plenty of hidden spots to enjoy sandy beaches as well. Should you like to explore the picturesque lungomare of the bay, we invite you for a 1-km walk on the seaside lungomare connecting Srebreno and Mlini.

Welcome to Mlini on the Dubrovnik riviera, seven miles from Dubrovnik Old Town in the south of Dalmatia, a charming part of Croatia which has fascinated visitors with its nature, lush vegetation, the sea and culture for centuries. The Old Ilyrians, Greeks and Romans recognized the values and beauties of this region and so they built their settlements there, and used the abundant sources of water and fertile soil while the sea offered them its blessings. Even today the traces of these ancient inhabitants can be seen happily blended into present day life within the genuine harmony of the sea and the land.

The bay of Župa readily offers hospitality to all friends and holiday makers. It is not easy to choose the best way to experience the harmony of this flora and fauna, this encounter of lush vegetation and the blue sea-whether by road or bay sea, enjoying great many coves and the blue and clear sea. Can those arriving by air resist the exciting contrast of the green and blue magic?
Dubrovnik riviera stretches between Dubrovnik, the old Ragusa in the west and Cavtat, the ancient Epidaurus in the east, between the settlements of Dubac and Plat. The three islands Supetar, Mrkan and Bobara anchored right in front of the bay protect it from the open sea and from the north the hilly slopes of the Upper Župa. The rich diversity in such a narrow area offers a memorable experience whether you are after the turquoise limpid sea and secluded coves or rich fields and picturesque hamlets or simply a holiday. Pretty tourist resorts are clustered along the coast. The Villa Avantgarde is situated in Mlini close to Kupari, Srebreno and Mlini beaches.

Kupari beach is the oldest of them built in the shape of the horse shoe for protection against pirates. Later on they become knows for manufacture of a special type of roman tiles (the name is derived from the latin coppo romano). Today it is a well know tourist destination with many small beaches.

Srebreno, the old Subbrenum is the next in this line of small resorts. It is a place where the past and a present meet the summer mansions next to the modern hotel and villas facilities. It is here that you can find one of the most beautiful beaches of our country.

Mlini are held as one of the most beautiful resorts here. It is rich in water sources where the old water mills still remains. The actual name Mlini means the water mills. Rich waterfalls which gain in their force during rainy weather create an atmosphere of primeval eternity. Pine trees, palms and secluded beaches, villas, flowers, and shady walkways are the features of Mlini. Since this region has been blessed with natural beauty it has permeated the culture of this people for centuries. The “Župa summer” is a manifestation of national customs, rich costumes and a folklore – not only of Župa but of the region and the entire country. That is the time when the actors visit Župa and take part in many places, where artists and musicians contribute with concerts with classical, rock and evergreen music. The authentic “a Capella” singing can be heard from every corner. “Fishermen nights” are especially interesting with sea food and a glass of good local wine, as the party goes on from dusk to dawn.

The climate is mild, Mediterranean with very warm sunny days... The bathing season lasts from April till October. The clouds rarely hide the sun while the rain come very rarely bringing a different feeling. Summers are warm and dry, but the winter is also pleasant in Župa. The warmth of the Mediterranean can be felt today as it always has.
